Gday Camden-ites
June is an amazing time of year; it houses the winter solstice. It’s a time for celebration…for the shortest day of the year and the coming of the sun. On June 20th, Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living is having a Winter Picnic Open Day and most of our lovely Camden Produce Market stallholders are taking part.
It’s a day of fun with an environmental twist. We are encouraging Camden (and Sydney) locals to pop down and discover treats produced by our very own gifted residents.
Marcelle with her unbelievable cupcakes.
Sandra in all her spice glory.
Kerry and her ‘must-have’ preserves.
Matt and his premium organic teas.
David with the whole range of Wort Organic soft drinks
Trevor showcasing his devilish fudges
Oaks Organics will be supplying the meat for the BBQ…plus many more stalls you haven’t seen before.
This years winter solstice open day will also be an event for the little ones in the community with an animal farm and Lavender Lilly providing the entertainment. Whilst the kids are occupied with the ducks and goats, it gives the grown ups an opportunity to tour the gardens, take part in one or two workshop, maybe learn a thing or two about environmental sustainability, sample the delights made in the area or just sit under a tree and enjoy the sun and a chai tea.
The open day (20th of June) kicks off at 10am and concludes at 3pm. MCSL is located at number 1 Mount Annan Drive, Mount Annan (opposite Flower Power). Plenty of parking is available with a small donation to the local SES (and with the current weather all proceeds are duly deserved).
I encourage everybody to make an appearance. Not only is MCSL a leader in Sydney’s environmental movement, it’s also a great day for the whole family to enjoy quality time together exploring what the local community can offer to you and future generations.
All the best till then and keep thinking GREEN,
Matt (Enviro Central)
