As a little girl a “food memory” was deeply embedded in my brain and I suspect in everyone else’s too! Thats what keeps us searching for that elusive flavor “just like mums or Grannies”. People at my stall say ‘its just like I remember having as a child”.
But something has gone wrong with food…. it’s still food, but now the scientists are taking over the kitchens of the world to the detriment of us all. Man-made chemicals have been added, preservatives, extenders, emulsifiers, “E” numbers, artificial flavors and colors, chemicals to extend the shelf life of foods ( other than the natural preservation afforded by natural ingredients) All of these man made substances must have a detrimental effect upon the function of the human body. We were never meant to eat such things. I have noticed quite a few mothers who say their children can eat my products without having reactions to them and it makes me both happy and sad… happy because they enjoyed them, and sad because food production is in a sorry state. Food should nourish the body, not cause problems, and it should come from kitchens, not labs.
You must have noticed how fruit and vegies from the supermarkets tend to go rotten really quickly. Do yourself a favor and buy fruit and vegies from the producers and see the difference for yourselves.I buy from the markets whenever I can, because the taste and ‘keeping’ is superior , then I take it home and cook it in my kitchen much the same as all the women of my family have done for generations. The end result is just good food without any hidden nasties to harm and cause problems down the track. We should all be able to trust our food and know it hasn’t been smothered in pesticides,or full of hormones and antibiotics. We should be able to eat, enjoy and not feel we are taking part in some science experiment.
At my stall, I hope the “food memory” will stir in you too.
